When William, a modern-day Métis music student is handed the 1918 real-life opera Shanewis: The Robin Woman about Creek/Cherokee Mezzo Soprano Tsianina Redfeather, he learns more than just an aria as he begins to unravel the complex circumstances faced by Indigenous performers past and present. Seen and unseen worlds collide as Tsianina appears to William, the two learning from each other as he makes a decision about his future as an artist. Combining humour, drama, biography and contemporary opera, I Call myself Princess explores the tension between representation, inspiration and cultural appropriation.
The Killer: Live! was created with one goal in mind – to provide the absolute best tribute to the unique energy that only Jerry Lee himself could provide onstage. We are proud to have some of the best talents in the industry bring our audiences an authentic experience that is memorable and enjoyable.
The team at TKL are dedicated to working as professionals in all aspects of show business. We take pride in guaranteeing transparency and friendly communication with all of our clients before, during, and after each performance. If it isn’t fun, it isn’t Rock & Roll!
Friday, March 14 & Saturday March 15 – 8:00PM Start
wanisiniwin : The act of losing one’s way or being lost
kwêski-pimâtisiw: He changes his way of life
Billy and Samuel are lost in their search for home. Billy was raised in a violent household while Samuel grew up in foster care. Basketball made them friends but now, violence, jail and death loom over their heads and they must look to each other and their fractured friendship for salvation. Told through the lens of the playwrights’ own lived experience growing up on the Canadian prairies, wanisiniwin / kwêski-pimâtisiw explores male Indigenous friendship and toxic masculinity in a turbulent, hurting world.
